Berdena Groth of Manton died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006 at her home. She was 83.
She was born on Nov. 5, 1922 in Manton to Raymond and Henrietta (Zylstra) Kimbel. She married Ivan Groth in Manton on Dec. 24, 1941. He preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 2002.
Mrs. Groth was a lifelong Manton area resident and graduated from Manton High School in 1941. She worked for several years at the Gospel Bookstore in Cadillac but was mainly a homemaker.
She was a member of the Morey Community Church in Lake City and was an active member of the Manton Senior Center. She enjoyed visiting family and her friends and loved doing mission work. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida and Arizona.
Survivors include her sons, Lee (Robin) Groth of Grand Rapids and Ronald (Breda) Groth of Manton; daughter, Marsha (Victor) Hogberg of Temerance; brothers, Donald (Arlene) Kimbel, Raymond (Pat) Kimbel and Jack Kimbel, all of Manton; sisters, Emmaline (Bill) Marsh of Cadillac and Betty (Bob) Miller of Comstock Park; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Ivan, she was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene and Gerald; and sister, Henrietta Hiebert.
Services are 4 p.m. Friday at the Rollins Church in Manton with Rev. Paul Lewis of the Morey Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Township Cemetery, Missaukee County.
Visitaion is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Manton.
