Basil N. Gripton, 77, former Melvin resident and a retired tool maker, died Sunday in Caro nursing home, after a long illness.
He had been there five years.
Mr. Gripton had lived most of his life in Detroit.
He was born Sept. 30, 1891 in Flynn Township, the son of Robert and Anna Gripton.
He was a World War I veteran.
Mr. Gripton is survived by a sister, Mrs. Nettie Kaake, Almont; a brother, Alfred Gripton of Melvin, and two step-daughters Mrs. Verna Bok, Hudsonville, and Mrs. Beulah Sieweke of Millington.
Services were held Wednesday in the Carman Funeral Home, Brown City.
Burial was in Omard Cemetery.
