Basil Grant Dansingburg, 68, a 1982 retiree of the Traverse City Iron Works, died Sat at St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Clemens.
A resident of Traverse City since 1977, he previously lived in Mayfield several years. He attended Forest Lakes Bible Church and was a member of the Traverse City Eagle Lodge, the Buckley Steam Engine Club and the Kingsley American Legion Post. He was a US Army veteran of WWII.
Born in Boardman Township, Kalkaska County on September 24, 1920, he was the son of Will and Adah (Wonsey) Dansingburg. On August 15, 1945, in Romeo, he married Nellie E. Milne, who died in 1987.
Surviving are a son, Terry Dansingburg of Traverse City; a daughter Marsha Kantz of Kingsley; a sister, Bethel Dansingburg and three brothers, Doyle, William, and Harvey, all of Romeo; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Cecile Dansingburg, Aileen Dansingburg, and June Slade, and a brother, Willard.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wed at the Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. Pastor Dan Potter will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kingsley.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 this evening and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Tue.
