Barbara Sue (Gordon) Krumlauf, 78 of Kalkaska, formerly of Elk Rapids, passed away on Sun, May 29, 2011 at Munson Medical Center. She was born on Feb 6, 1933 in Rapid City to the late Austin M and Gertrude M (Pitman) Gordon.
Barbara graduated from Elk Rapids High School in 1951 and then went on to earn a diploma at the Traverse City Beauty College in 1952. Barbara was also a past Cherry Festival Princess.
She married Ray K Krumlauf on Dec 6, 1957 in Kewadin and together they raised three wonderful children.
Barbara and Ray opened the Elk Lake Floral together and ran it successfully for over 25 years. Floral design was a passion of Barbara's and one that she excelled at.
She was a past member of the Business & Professional Women's Club of Elk Rapids. Barbara was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, going to yard sales, and visiting antique shops.
Her loving ways, infectious laugh, and her willingness to help others whenever possible will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Surviving Barbara is her loving husband of 54 years, Ray; her devoted children, Kathy (Tom) Preston of Kalkaska and Kirk (Carol) Krumlauf of South Boardman; her 10 dear grandchildren, Rachel, Nathan, Kip, Andy, Austin, Douglas, Sharayah, Kristen, Alissa, and Isaac; her eight precious great grandchildren; and her loving daughter in law, Susan Krumlauf.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Kenneth G. Krumlauf in 2009.
A memorial service honoring Barbara was held on Sun, Jun 5, 2011 at 2 pm. at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Moser officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.
