Barbara Louise Nora Sorenson, born on Aug 28, 1949, passed away on Sep 28, 2011 at Kalkaska Memorial Eden Center. Barbara grew up in the Detroit area and attended a one room schoolhouse in Redford, MI., Our Lady of Loretto, St. Valentine's, and Our Lady of Mercy Schools. She obtained a Bachelors Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University and taught in the Melvindale School System. In 1973, Barb was in a serious auto accident and suffered a closed head injury from which she never fully recovered. 

Barb was preceded in death by her father, Donald James Nora; brother Paul Donald Nora; grandparents, James and Theresa Nora, and Frank and Germaine Peters; aunts Celeste Jacobson, Vera and Amelia Nora, and Rachel Peters; uncles, Floyd, Joseph, and Clayton Nora, Leslie Jacobson, and Walter Peters; and cousin Jane Nora. 

She is survived by her mother, Germaine Peters Nora; sisters, Donna Lynn (Michael) Elmore and Patricia Anne (Alireza) Abbasabadi; nieces, Rebecca Lynn Jorgensen, and Karen Marie Elmore; great-nieces, Alexis Sierra Jorgensen and Sienna Nora Doorbal; aunts Marie and Doris Peters; uncle Bill Peters; cousins Carol and Edward Roth, John and Ellen-Mary Nora, Sharon and M Thomas Sepic, James Nora, David and Mary Peters, Joan Peters, Annette and Joe Heller, and Tomas Peters, and their children. 

There will be no formal memorial service at this time. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Barbara's memory is asked to consider Kalkaska Memorial Eden Center.
