Barbara Jean Smith Meehan passed away peacefully at home on Jul 19, 1997.
She was born on Jan 24, 1934, to Lester and Bertha Smith, in East Wenatchee. Barbara grew up on a ranch, sang in the church choir and achieved Worthy Adviser and District office in Rainbow Girls. She was a princess, representing East Wenatchee in the Apple Blossom Festival and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1952.
Barbara married Bernard J Meehan in 1953 and traveled through Europe. They settled in Entiat in 1957, where they started raising the family and she taught Sunday School She was a member of Entiat Women’s Sapphire Club.
The family moved to Edmonds in 1967, where she continued raising her family and worked as a photo retoucher.
Barbara made many close friends and was very active with her family.
She is survived by husband, Bernard J Meehan, Edmonds; daughter, Larua Meehan, Seattle; sons Jody (Cathy) Meehan, Edmonds, and tom (June) Meehan, Bothell; three grandchildren, Brian, Shea, and Molly; also brothers, Lester and Lee Smith, Pasco; and Aunt Helen Hansen, Rochester, MN.
Barbara battled M.S. positively and optimistically for 30 years.
Barbar brought great joy and wisdom to those around her. Her smile was infectious. She valued and cherished her children and grandchildren. She was dedicated to her family. Barbara had a great love for life. She continued to be an inspiration to family and friends as she led her life with grace and dignity. She was a joy to be around; her smile will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on with her family and friends.
