Barbara J. Parritt Shinaver, of Kalkaska passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
She was born on November 16, 1928, in South Haven, the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Bolles) Nation.
Barbara married Everett Parritt and he preceded her in death. She was a resident of Kalkaska for 37 years, moving from Flint. On Sept. 6, 2003, she married William Shinaver in Kalkaska.
Barbara enjoyed music, movies, singing, helping others and spending time with friends and family. She never met a stranger and was the family comedian.
Surviving Barbara is her husband, William Shinaver; children, Richard (Josie) Anderson of Fife Lake, Arlene (John) Markus, Brenda (John) Rogers and Everett M. (Sandra) Parritt, all of Kalkaska, and Tena Crewse of East Jordon; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Earl Nation of Flint and Art Nation of Kentucky; and her sister, Darlene (David) Ballard of Flint.
Preceding Barbara in death was her first husband, Everett in December 1994; daughter, Judy Ann Parritt in October 1962; and sisters, Deloris Simmons and Betty Gondol.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 21, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. A funeral service was then held on Friday, July 22, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment was at Fife Lake Cemetery.
Memorials may be given on behalf of Barbara to North Country Hospice in Kalkaska.
