Arvilla Gladys LaMay, 81, of Kalkaska, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Kalkaska Memorial's Eden Center.
Arvilla was born on January 26, 1930, in Saginaw, the daughter of Smith and Lela Parkinson. She married Richard C. LaMay on March 26, 1946.
Arvilla was a well known member of the community, and was affectionately known as the "Fudge Lady". In 1997 she opened L&L Office Supply, which she operated for 8 years. She loved talking with people and telling them stories of her life. She also enjoyed yard sales and painting her shoes and shorts with cartoon characters, and had every imaginable butterfly she could find.
Arvilla is survived by her loving husband Richard of 65 years; sons: Richard (Donna) of Mt. Pleasant, Mike (Helen) of Shepherd; daughters: LeAnn (Tony) Leffingwell of Kalkaska, Loretta (Chris) Erway of Kalkaska; 16 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, three brothers, and her son Calvin LaMay.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Kalkaska Funeral Home, with Jeff Badgero officiating. Interment followed at Oliver Township Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
