Mrs. Anna Merle (Thorne) Shippy, 89, of Grand Rapids, died Sat, Sep 6, 1997, at the Clark Memorial Home in Grand Rapids.
Mrs. Shippy was born Dec 21, 1907, in Fife Lake, to Archie and Alla Kent Thorne. She married Melvin Shippy in Traverse City on Oct 13, 1920. He preceded her in death in 1971.
Surviving are daughters, Betty Patterson of Grand Rapids and Mary (Robert) Herrud of Plant City, FL; a grandson, Kevin Patterson; sisters in law Edith Thorne and Gladys (Kenneth) Mason; and a brother in law Sinclair Shippy.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Fife Lake Cemetery. Pastor Howard Seaver officiated.
