Angelene Elizabeth Barbara (Miller) VanCoillie, 94, of Rapid City went to be with the Lord on Jun 10, 2004, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center-Long Term Care.
Born on Mar 19, 1910, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Albert Andrew and Margaret Elizabeth (Opificious) Miller.
Angelene married Frank VanCoillie on Aug 21, 1928. They resided in Detroit until 1948 when they moved to Rapid City, a small town that they both loved.
Angelene was a member of the Rapid City Board of Education for many years. She worked for 11 years as social welfare director of Kalkaska County and before retiring, worked as a social worker for the State of Michigan. Upon retirement, she spent her winters in Lakeland, FL. Her loving family and friends were her greatest joy.
Angelene is survived by her daughters, Carol (Maurice) Guy of Kalkaska and Virginia (Samuel) Guy of Bellaire; siblings, Vera Lowe of St Clair, Corrine Page of St Clair, Lester (Donna) Miller of Beverly Hills, FL, and Albert Miller of Ann Arbor; grandchildren, Mark, Joel, Gary, Paul, Alan, Todd, Craig, and Susan, and 17 great grandchildren.
Angelene was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Margaret Elizabeth; and husband Frank, who passed away on Jan 3, 1963.
Memorials may be made to Kalkaska Church of Christ and Bellaire Wesleyan Church.
Visitation will be held on Mon, Jul 19, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Her funeral service will be on Tue, Jul 20, at 11 am at the Kalkaska Church of Christ, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Clearwater Township Cemetery in Rapid City.
