Andrew Pflum, 98, of Coldsprings Township, Kalkaska County, died Fri, Aug 19, 1994, at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City.
Mr. Pflum has been a resident of the area since 1932. He had come to the U.S. when he was 19 years old, and he had worked in the woods in Minnesota and Iowa. Also, he had worked at several breweries and at Parks Woodworking Company.
He enjoyed traveling, and had gone to Europe several times. Also, he enjoyed motorcycles and cars. He was a member of St. Anthony Church in Mancelona.
On Oct 8, 1895, in Hannerstorf, Austria, he was born the son of Frank and Ann Pflum. In Cincinnati, OH on Sep 9, 1916, he was married to Carrie Zapf, and she died in 1981.
Also preceding him in death were four sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by two sons, Frank (Myrtle) Pflum of Mancelona and William (Gorgetta) Pflum of Kalkaska; two daughters, Mary (Herman) Kollstedt of Harrison, OH, and Betty (Charles) Elbert of Cincinnati OH; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Mon, Aug 22, at St. Anthony Church in Mancelona with Rev. Fr. William Swiefka officiating. Burial was in Coldsprings Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County. A scripture service was held on Aug 21 at the Paullin Funeral Home in Mancelona.
