Andrew James LaPonsie, age 74, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI passed away Wed morning, Jul 21, 2010 at his home.
Andrew J. LaPonsie was born in Brimley, MI on Sept 15, 1935 to the late William LaPonsie and Myrtle (Williams) LaPonsie.
Andy was a member of the All Nations Assembly of God and the Logging Congress. Andy was a lumberjack and owned his own saw mill, he was always scoping out new trees to cut, he called it “cruising timbers”. He loved cabinet making, tending his garden, and helping people when ever possible. He also loved to teach kids and others how to make things.
Andy was survived by his wife, Joanne LaPonsie whom he married on Nov 29, 1958 in Brimley, MI, one daughter: Tanual (John) Bennett of Largo, FL; five sons: Andrew (Cindy) LaPonsie of Dafter, MI, Michael LaPonsie of Shelbyville, MI, William LaPonsie of Waterford, MI, John (Bonnie) LaPonsie of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and James LaPonsie of Everett, MI; 24 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
Andy was also survived by six brothers: John, Jimmy, Arty, Gene, David, Larry; and two sisters: Fern and Marcia.
Andy LaPonsie was preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings, Billie, Ida, and Gary Laponsie.
