Alvin L. Guitar, 83, of Harbor Beach, passed away Sun, Jun 3, 2007, at Port Huron Hospital. Born in Harbor Beach on Jul 31, 1923 he was the son of the late Barney and Julia (Mausolf) Guitar. Alvin and Betty Jeffers were united in marriage on Mar 24, 1947 in Harbor Beach. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army in the Philippines and Japan for over two and a half years. Alvin was a retired employee of Hercules, Inc. in Harbor Beach. He retired in 1983 after working for 38 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church and the VFW post of Harbor Beach.
Surviving are his wife, Betty, of Harbor Beach; two sons, Alvin M. Guitar and his wife, Debra, of Hamtramck, and Mark Guitar and his wife, Diana, of Kalkaska; 13 grandchildren; and sister, Louise Miller of Port Huron.
Alvin was preceded in death by a daughter, Maxine Leese; three brothers, Lavern, Bernard, and Ralph Guitar; and sisters, Magdaline Jones, Velma Woyciewski, Florence Miller and Laura Hansel.
A Funeral Mass will be at 1pm on Wed, Jun 6, 2007, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church with Fr. T.J. Fleming officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9pm. On Tue in the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach, and from noon until the time of the service on Wed at the church. A parish vigil service will be at 7:30 pm on Tue in the funeral home.
