Allison L "Doc" Spencer, 62, passed away on Dec 9, 2007, at his home in Rapid City. He was born Jan 15, 1945, in Traverse City, the son of the late Vernon Noble and Annetta Marie (Schubert) Spencer.
Doc graduated from Kalkaska High School in 1963. He served in the US Army as a chauffeur for the Pentagon before serving in Vietnam. Upon returning from serving his country, Doc enrolled in and graduated from Central Michigan University. On Aug 30, 1969, he married Sandra Diann Belcher in Kalkaska. Doc and Sandy moved to Rapic City in 1974, where they raised two beautiful daughters.
Doc was a very active member in the community, taking part and organizing many fundraisers. He served as a past president of the Lions Club of Torch Lake. Doc enjoyed working with the youth in his community and helped many teens through difficult times. He had coached track and field, basketball and softball. Doc also was active as a youth in 4-H and won many state awards. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and was a great story teller. Doc will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sandy; his devoted daughters, Kelli Marie (Robert) Melenyk of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kristina Lee Spencer of Rapid City; siblings, Ila Kay Lund of Lansing, Dr. Maurice "Maury" (Diane Lynn) Spencer of Madison, WI, and Devere F "Bugs" (Connie Lee) Spencer of Montrose; sister in law, Pearl Elizabeth Wind of Kalkaska.
Doc is preceded ind eath by his parents, and brothers, Theodore Byron Spencer and Vernon Noble Spencer, Jr.
Visitation was on Tue, Dec 11, at the Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The funeral service was on Wed at 1 pm at the United Methodist Church in Kalkaska, with the Reverend Robert Stark officiating.
