Former North Pole resident Allen Russell Sparks, 63, of Hampton, SC, entered into eternal rest Sat, Apr 17, 2010 at his home.
Allen was born Jun 2, 1946, in Tacoma, WA, and was a son of Bernard Sparks and Muriel Morrison Sparks.
He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a retired master carpenter with the Carpenter’s Union in Fairbanks and was a retired quality control manager for Haliburton at Fort Wainwright.
He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in North Pole. Allen loved all things outdoors, including hunting and flying his plane, but especially loved spending time at his cabin on the Teklanika River.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah Youmans Sparks; children, Frank Sparks of Lynwood, WA, Brian Sparks of South Dakota, Becky Sparks of Anchorage, Billy Barnett of Wasilla, Gregg Peede of North Pole, Amy Borling of North Pole, Kim Renfroe of California, Jasah Sumpter of North Pole, and Shannon Laird of Kent, WA; honorary sons, Lee Sumpter and Ty Sumpter, both of North Pole; 23 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Jeff Peede. A memorial service will be held in Fairbanks at a later date.
