Rev. Allen E. Stebbins, 81, of Lapeer, went to be with his Lord on Thu, May 22, 2014.
He was born Oct 11, 1932 in Kalkaska, MI to parents William and Anna (Butler) Stebbins. He married Kay Donna (Shephard) Thane on Sept 12, 2009 in Lapeer.
Allen proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He lived a positive, religious life, pastoring in four churches in Michigan, “retiring” in 2009 after 50 years of service. Rev. Stebbins was known for his generous heart and love for people. He was loved for the radio program he gave voice to on WKYO, Caro, for 30 years. More recently, he has enjoyed being a member and Chaplin with the Navy League of the US Saginaw as well as his work with the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum. Above all else, his love for his family & their love in return was most important to him.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Stebbins; children: Marc (Karen) Stebbins of Manistee, Scott (Jen) Stebbins of Grand Rapids; step-children, Mike (Tonia) Thane, Karrie (Jim) Simons, Brent Thane; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Larry (Marilyn) Stebbins, Katheryn (Marv) Clark, Wilma (Ray) Wilcox, Athelia (Walt) Hoagman, Darlene (Bill) Harris, Gayle (Bob) Fink, Annette (Bob) Alford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rev. Stebbisn was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Mary Kay Stebbins; infant sister, Karen; first wife, Kay (Mawderley) Stebbins; his parents, Anna Stebbins, William Stebbins; and step-mother, Pearl Stebbins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Navy League of the US or the Hunters Creek Community Church, Lapeer.
Visitation will be 5-8pm Sun. Funeral service will be at 11am Mon, May 26, 2014 at Muir Brothers funeral Home, Lapeer, officiated by Pastor Pat Neff. Burial will be at 12pm Tue in the Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
