Mrs. Alice June (Thorington) Mathews, age 76 of Gaylord, died Mon, Dec 25, 2006.
Mrs. Mathews was born Apr 28, 1930, in Lansing, was raised in Kalkaska and moved to the Gaylord area in the early 1960s. She dearly loved her family and looked forward to family get togethers. She was also an avid small game hunter.
Mrs. Mathews was preceded in death by her husband Matt.
She is survived by her children: Gerry (Ellen) Matthews of Gaylord, June Copenhaver of CO, Mark (Beverly) Mathews of Gaylord, Kandy (Gary) Thornton of Gaylord; grandchildren: Krisann (Rob) Jackson, Jerry Mathews, Teresa Martin, Marsha & Adam Mathews, Megan, Meredith, Allison, and Katelynn Thornton; great grandchildren: Sebastian Mathews and Collin Kosinski; brothers & sisters: John, Bob & Cecil Thorington and Bernice Helsel.
Funeral services were held on Thu, Dec 28, 2006, at 2 pm from the Nelson Funeral Home, Pastor Mark Hoult officiating. Burial took place at Coldsprings Cemetery in Mancelona.
Visitation took place on Thu from noon until the time of services.
