Alfred "Al" Mitchell, 90, of Kalkaska passed away with his family by his side on Jan 3, 2004, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Born on Oct 3, 1913, in Eaton County, Al was the son of Elmer and Sylvia (Watson) Mitchell.
Al married Erma Kinsman on Jun 26, 1938, in Barryton. He worked for Kalkaska Memorial Health Center for 18 years and retired in 1974. Al moved to the Upper Peninsula to hunt and fish. He enjoyed living there with an occasional trip to the casino.
Surviving Al are his children, Herb E (Carol) Mitchell, Lila (Richard) Ramsey, Larry (Sandy) Mitchell, and Steve (Dawn) Mitchell, all of Kalkaska; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters, Janette (Cleve) Selleck of Greenville and Doris Covert of Baroda; and brother, Merrill (Thelma) Mitchell of Muskegon.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Enna; sister, Effie Linderman; and brother, Lyle Mitchell.
Visitation was held Mon, Jan 5, at Wolfe Funeral Home. The funeral service was Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in behalf of Al Mitchell to the Kalkaska Commission on Aging.
