Alden M. Fischer, 82, of Williamsburg, died Feb 18, 1998, at Grand Traverse Medical Care Facility.
Born in Alden on Apr 19, 1915, he was the son of Herman and Ruth (Armstrong) Fischer. On Jul 17, 1943, in Portage, OH, he married Hazel Hagemeyer.
Alden served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and moved to the area from Bowling Green, OH, 48 years ago. He retired as a machinist from Twin Bay Industries in Elk Rapids in 1979, was also a former employee of Parsons Corporation in Traverse City, and raised sheep, cattle and bees.
He was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church and the Williamsburg School Board, enjoyed photography, and loved his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Hazel of Traverse City; daughter Aileen (John) Hubbell of Williamsburg; sister Bonnie (Jack) Foster of Alden; brother Keith (Joann) Fischer of Bellaire; grandchildren James Hubbell of Grand Rapids, and Jeffrey, Ranae, Joseph, Jerry, Amber, Jon, Rilee, and Justin Hubbell, all of Williamsburg; and great grandchildren Greg Peters and Caleb Hubbell, both of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Lyle Hubbell in 1972, sister Yvonne Fischer and grandson Jacob Hubbell.
Memorial services were held Feb 21 at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church; the Rev. Doug Pedersen officiated. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids.

Arrangements were handled by the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
