Albert M. Matkovich, 76, of Blue Lake Township, Kalkaska County, died Sun, Apr 23, 2000 at Kalkaska Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug 25, 1923, in Detroit, the son of Matthew and Mary (Vucic) Matkovich. On Nov 6, 1948, in Detroit, he married Darline Wesley.
Albert served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for General Motors at the Fisher Body Plant in Livonia. He retired in 1975. Albert was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter.
He is survived by wife Darline Matkovich of Blue Lake Township; son Allan (Catherine) Trombley of Taylor; grandchildren Mark (Elizabeth) Trombley of Taylor, Debra (Jeff) Martin of Belleville, Shaun Trombley of Brooklyn, NY, Brian Trombley of Taylor; great grandchildren Jordan and Johnathan Trombley, both of Taylor; brother John (Pearle) Mackavich of Melbourne, FL; sister Elsie Byrwa of Dearborn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters Annette McKee and Mary Hein.
A requiem Mass was held Apr 25 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mancelona; Father Steven Soos officiated. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family was served by the Penzien Funeral Homes Inc in Mancelona.
