Albert Kinglsey Brown, 74, of Kalkaska, died Mon, Jun 5, 2000, at Munson Medical Center. 

Mr. Brown was a 1944 graduate of Kalkaska High School. He earned his bachelor's degree at Michigan State University and a master's degree at George Washington College. During WWII he served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Force, flying 38 missions over Europe. Prior to his retirement in 1975, he was employed as a soil conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Allega, Big Rapids, Marshall, and Traverse City. He served two terms as a Kalkaska County commissioner. 

Mr. Brown was born in Kalkaska County on Jun 18, 1925, to Reed and Edvega Burgess Brown. On Oct 30, 1948, in Boyne Falls, he was united in marriage with Catherine Fiel, who survives. 

Also surviving are sons Dr. Albert (Virginia) Brown of Kalkaska and William (Betsey) Brown of Petoskey; daughters, Dr. Sandra (Marty) Magy of San Diego, CA, Catherine (Mandell) Allwiel of Linwood, and Joann (Hal) Steger of Half Moon Bay, CA; brothers Allen and Jim Brown, both of Kalkaska; sisters Mary Smith of Kalkaska; and 12 grandchildren. 

Son Oscar, and brothers Joe and John Brown, preceded him in death. 

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jun 10 at St Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, with Father Jim Holtz as celebrant. Interment was in Excelsior Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County. 

A wake service was Jun 9 at Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska.
