Albert John Wolfe, 85, of 131 Carriage Lane, Chocolay Township, died Wednesday morning at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans. Albert was born February 13, 1919, in Toronto Canada, a son of the late Albert and Henrietta (Utley) Wolfe.
On December 31, 1940 he married the former Mona O. Beardslee in Flint, Michigan. Mr. Wolfe was a veteran of the army, having served during WWII with the 93rd Armored Division where he was awarded 5 Bronze Stars and a Silver Invasion Arrowhead. He was employed for 37 years as a receiving steel inspector with General Motors until his retirement in 1974. Mr. Wolfe was a life member of the VFW and DAV, the Roscommon Masonic Lodge, Elf Karafeh Shrine in Flint and was a Noble of the Mystic Shrine. Albert was also a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Marquette.
He is survived by his wife, Mona Wolfe, of Chocolay Township; a son, Douglas (Susan) Wolfe of Marquette; 5 grandchildren, Scott Brancheau of Florida, Lou Ann Brancheau of Dexter, MI, Rebecca Rudden of Marquette, Sarah Wolfe of Lansing and Deborah Wolfe of CO; 2 great grandchildren, Kayla and Whitney Rudden of Marquette; brother, John Wolfe of Florida; and sisters, Henrietta Rita Fiori of Flint and Lois Gardener of Fenton.
A daughter, Sally Ann Brancheau, 3 brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2004 from 5 to 8 pm in the Canale Tonella Funeral home. The members of Marquette Lodge #101 Free and Accepted Masons will conduct a Masonic Service at 7pm
A funeral service will take place on Monday at 4pm at St. Pauls Episcopal Church with Rev. Virginia Peacock officiating.
Entombment will be in Northland Chapel Gardens Mausoleum.
