Alan Lee Burgess, age 63, of Brown City, MI passed away Fri, Jul 22, 2022 at home with family by his side.
Alan was born to the late Elton and Virginia (Holbrook) Burgess on Nov 17, 1958 in Yale, MI. He graduated from Brown City High School with the class of 1977. Alan met Vicki McNary and they were married on Mar 28, 1987. He worked for over 40 years in sales and was the manager of Nutrien Ag Solutions. Alan was also the Flynn Township Zoning Administrator. He spent over 20 years as the president of the Brown City School Board and was also on the Tri County Bank Board. Alan enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, where he built his own green house, as well as going on casino trips, baking, hunting, and fishing. He loved to help people, and his favorite saying was “Don’t sweat the small stuff.” More then anything, he loved spending time with his family and being a grandfather to his granddaughters.
Alan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vicki Burgess; children, Jeremy Burgess, Michelle (Ryan) Banks, and Eric Burgess; granddaughters, Alaina and Alivia Banks; siblings, Karen (Mike) Clear, Duane (Jan) Burgess, Paul Burgess and Marilyn Burgess (Craig Forgaard); mother in law, Phyllis Bissett; sisters in law, Karen Bissett (Tom Germayne) and Tammy (Jim) Siegler; brothers in law, Ron (Liz) McNary, Don McNary, and Bob (Marianne) McNarry; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive visitors from 2 to 8 pm Tue, Jul 26, 2022 from 2 to 8 pm Wed, Jul 27, 2022 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, MI.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thu, Jul 28, 2022 at Brown City United Methodist Church, 7043 Lincoln St, Brown City, MI 48416 with visitation from 10 to 11 am. Pastor Pat Robins will officiate.
A burial will follow at Omard Cemetery: Pall Bearers will be Jeremy Burgess, Eric Burgess, Duane Burgess, Paul Burgess, Justin Bissett, Ryan Banks, Tom Orton, Mark Petitpren, and Tom Germayne. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Dennis DeLong, Dan Maitland, Dan Czaczkowski, Steve Ankley, Randy Kreiner, and Cindy McCready.
