Joseph Paul Kwilinski of Cadillac passed away Saturday, may 18, 2019 at his home. He was 84. Joe was born on February 16, 1935 in Cadillac to Stephen & Viola (Root) Kwilinski and they preceded him in death.
Joe had lived all his life in the Cadillac area and attended Cadillac Schools. In 1952 he entered the United States Air Force and served honorably for 4 years. On June 8, 1957 in Cadillac he married the former Elaine M. Morencey and she preceded him in death on August 25, 2002.
Mr. Kwilinski had been employed at Kysor in Cadillac for over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling and in his younger years playing softball, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
Survivors include his children: Dennis Kwilinski of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jeff (Laura) Kwilinski of Iron River, Michigan and Theresa Kwilinski of Petoskey, Michigan; 5 grandchildren: Christopher (Megan) Kwilinski, Heidi (Ross) Washburn, Samantha (Aaron) Place, Tessa (John) Marshall, and Kerri Kwilinski; 4 great grandchildren: Jaxon Kwilinski, and Henry, Theodore, and Norman Place; a brother, William (Fran) Kwilinski of Tennessee. In addition to his parents and wife Joe was preceded in death by his son, Joseph P. Kwilinski, Jr.; 3 sisters: Doris Slack, Mary Walton and Madeline Sweet and a brother, Stanley Kwilinski.
A private family gathering will be held in Iron River at a later date. Mr. Kwilinski’s final resting place will be Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac. Memorial contributions may be made to Love, INC., Veterans Serving Veterans Community Park and Wexford County Humane Society.
